In the traditional procedure, an anchor incision is used, and the nipples remain attached to the breasts. Sensation is most often preserved as the potential for nursing. Patient satisfaction after breast reduction is extremely high, and many of our patients are referred by happy patients who have had the surgery. Dr. Morello is one of the pioneers of a new technique, "SCARLESS" breast reduction, which uses liposuction to alter the breasts. The only scar is 3/8 inch long. Breasts can be reduced about one cup size, and the nipples usually rise about 1-2 inches. He will carefully evaluate you at the time of your visit and make a recommendation.
SCARLESS BREAST REDUCTION Many patients who desire breast reduction can now be done with our new technique that avoids 98% of the scars typically associated with breast reduction surgery. This is an in-office procedure, under general or IV twilight anesthesia, and the recovery is only 4-5 days instead of 2-4 weeks. Symptoms from large breasts are relieved and freedom of activity restored. Insurance coverage may apply. The chances of complications are greatly reduced. This procedure uses a modification of liposuction, and decreases breast size, elevates the nipples to some degree, and reduced the size of the areolae. It is especially suitable for younger patients (since part of its effectiveness relies on skin elasticity), patients with one large breast, older patients who want symptom relief and are less concerned with shape, and those who do not scar well or don't want the scars of traditional breast reduction surgery.
