Eyelid and Brow Lift
If you are in your 30's or 40's, you may have already noticed your upper eyelids starting to sag. Puffy "bags" may be forming beneath you lower lids as well (these are often inherited). As you age further, the sagging may increase and wrinkles develop. The excess skin is trimmed from the upper eyelids and puffiness removed from the lowers. The eyelid shape is not changed, unless you desire a slight angulation at the corner, which can be done. When necessary, tightening of loose or rounded lower eyelids restores their original shape. For some patients with puffy lower eyelids, surgery can be done without a scar (transconjunctival approach), and is sometimes done in conjunction with laser resurfacing to improve the skin texture. Blepharoplasty is usually done under a twilight anesthesia in our office facility, and has a 6-8 day recovery time to looking passable. After surgery your eyes appear bigger and brighter, projecting an alert, rested and more youthful appearance. This is the third most popular cosmetic surgery procedure in the United States.
